PROJECT 4:

PRESENTATION DRAWINGS

new studio class with new project and here are some details about this project

INTRODUCTION

Presentation drawings, which consist both 2D drawings (e.g. plan, elevation, cross section & details) and 3D drawings (e.g. perspectives and axonometric projections) is one the most effective ways to communicate the design ideas and concept to the clients or audience. It is used by designers like architects, interior designers or even structural engineers to develop a design idea into a coherent proposal, to explain a scheme and to promote its merits. Since presentation drawings play a vital part in convincing people about the merits of the proposed design, the quality and appropriateness of presentation drawings should be top-notch in terms of composition, drawings rendering, scale chosen, graphical images shown and written description. This is especially so if the presentation drawing is a design proposal which the designer must use to win a job.

OBJECTIVES

§  To introduce students with basic technical or presentation drawings as a medium of communication in built environment.
§  To enhance students’ skills in communicating the ideas and presenting their design through a set of scaled 2D and 3D drawings.
§  To improve students’ skills in rendering, colouring and composing graphical images.

TASK & REQUIREMENTS

§  Based on Project 3B (Objects Connection), students are required to produce a plan and elevations (front, right, left and rear) drawings of their wooden ComforTABLE CHAIR.
§  The drawings should be coloured based on the actual condition of their respective ComforTABLE CHAIR (not based on the colour of their structural model).
§  Drawings should be in A3 size and 1:20 scale.
§  Based on their ComfortABLE CHAIR design, each student is also required to produce at least one coloured:
i)                     axonometric drawing (1:20 scale), and
ii)                   perspective drawing (with human figure shown)

§  Medium: 2A3 size cartridge papers on boards (standard template with landscape orientation)

this new project was so challenging since I didn't have any basics about orthographic but it was quiet interesting trying to learn for my dear lecturer and from the seniors who were really helpful.
for the final result I was really satisfied because I put all my effort and it was really fun learning something new and really important for my course ( axonometric perspective and elevations )
I leave you now with my project pictures
